The first aspect to take into account when buying this exquisite liqueur is its place of origin, since not all countries or regions have the aura that comes from having a good vineyard.
Nations such as Italy, France, Spain, Argentina and Chile have earned fame as the best wine producers on Earth, although other countries such as the United States, Australia, Germany, China, South Africa and Portugal have gradually gained respect in this distinguished field. The most important wine-producing region in the world is Tuscany, located in Italy, “the boot country”, where the famous Chianti originated. This wine is unforgettable for its ruby red color, its freshness and the persistence of its flavor.
The world-famous Cabernet Sauvignon grape is the signature of the farms in Bourdeaux, France, a country full of outstanding labels. In Spain, the regions of La Rioja and Jerez stand out for their white and red grape specimens. Towards the west of the United States, specifically in Napa Valley, California, grape varieties with prestigious names such as Merlot and Chardonnay are booming.
Wine Production in South America
In South America, the Elqui and Limarí rivers Valley in Chile stands out since this is a dry, well-ventilated and privileged region, due to the fact that the annual average precipitation there barely reaches 5.1 inches (130mm). But that’s not all, because the valley has an integrated irrigation system that develops nutrient-rich soils and has a large capacity to store water. Do you recognize the taste of pisco? Well, it is achieved with the ripe and sweet grapes of this harvest.
At this point, it is impossible not to think of a Malbec if you have been lucky enough to taste it before. Of course, Argentina cannot be missing in this list of prodigious regions. Not only Mendoza, but also the provinces of Salta, San Juan, Río Negro and Neuquén are blessed by their vineyards. The red variety stands out especially with grapes such as Bonarda and Syrah, and white grapes include Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, among others.
